FOE: the musical project of one Hannah Clark; the one woman hurricane who has stolen our hearts with her unique musical sensibilities made her first venture north of the border on this latest UK tour.

Will Hanson’s hop from his hometown of London, to New York, to Glasgow is one that is rather intriguing. Why on earth would someone ditch the Big Apple to head for a relatively tiny Scottish city? I mean, no arguments from me about it being one of the greatest places in the world, but on paper it doesn’t make much sense.

Folk music often gets a bit of a bum rap from those in the more traditional rock world, dismissed as soft, samey and un-imaginative. In truth, more often than not, those that grasp the banjos have got more authenticity and passion than most guitar-based bands will ever be able to achieve… even when attached to a major label like Columbia.
The Avett Brothers are one such group, comprising of brothers Scott and Seth Avett, as well as Bob Crawford on the double bass, Joe Kwon on cello, and Jacob Edward on drums. Their fiery folk tales have been spinning on our iPod hard-disks for months, so when they landed in Glasgow as part of their latest tour, we had to go along for ourselves to see how they fared in person.

Responding to our call for unsigned music on Twitter the other day, Will sent us over his atmospheric double A-side Deathbed Conversion/The View from Ebury Bridge, which we’re happy to feature for him here. A native Londoner, Will has made his way to Glasgow, via. New York. It’s no coincidence that we picked another Glaswegian resident to feature: the vast bulk of those who submitted their songs to us were from the Scots city. Read into that what you will!

United Fruit are the latest band to have been gathering some steam and attention round the alt-music scene in Glasgow, garnering some decent support slots along the way. Infact, it was when they shared the bill with Artrocker friends Mojo Fury that we first spotted them in person.

Following on from their critically acclaimed debut LP ‘You Have No Idea What You’re Getting Yourself Into’, electro-punks Does It Offend You Yeah? are kicking off their second full-length… aptly titled ‘Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You’… and due for release on the 14th of March… with a 19 date UK tour. We were there to see for ourselves in Glasgow’s ABC2.
Have a swatch at this stunning tour video, mashed up by Artrocker by clips from a week on the road with Hold Your Horse Is and Mojo Fury.

As a big fan of all three bands playing this cold wintery night I traipsed and slid through the slush and ice with great anticipation, dying to rediscover my love for Frightened Rabbit, as they returned to their hometown to play two sold out gigs after a busy year touring the UK and releasing their third studio album “The Winter of Mixed Drinks”. The Barrowland Ballroom, filled with layer clad fans and soggy feet, was the perfect setting for this homecoming gig.

I’ve spent ages mulling over this band.
Having been a big fan of singer Andrew Manson’s previous musical incarnations. it’s important to do this one justice. It’s just proving so damned hard to describe or classify Otherpeople in any meaningful way.

For a large percentage of the 10,000 strong crowd at the barn like SECC, this day probably feels like one that would never come. The average age would put many around 11 or 12 when Blink 182 first entered their hiatus, making this the first and only opportunity they would have to see the iconic pop punk band. This brings a large sense of celebration with it, and the atmosphere in the room is electric. By the time the band kick into opener "Dumpweed" the crowd explodes and the party begins.
