This is not going to be a definitive report on the 2010 Offset Festival. For starters, over the two days I saw over fifty acts that I LIKED to varying degrees. And I couldn’t be everywhere, despite trying my best.
Things get off to a rollicking start on Saturday with The Neat on the Main Stage.
Much angular guitar and the first instance of one of the Themes of The Weekend (TotW). The front man who leaps from the stage and chases his audience across a field.
Dum Dum Girls
Yall might be familiar with the popular tween Disney sensation ‘Demi Lovato.’ She is basically the ‘latina Miley Cyrus’, meant to appeal to the Disney tweens who have minority bloodlines, giving them a reason to ‘dream’ that one day they can be kinda white & famous, just like Miley/HannyMontanny.
2008 was a shit year for music.
With the economy falling down around us, the music industry continued to crumble under the pressure of the internet…falling down, down, down and barely even pulling in a cent (or so they would like you to believe). Bands inspired by the few cash cows we have left aped and copied their way through records. Folks were led to believe that a band like Fleet Foxes made a better, more lasting impression with their record then say someone like Deerhunter did.
