Dum Dum Girls perform "Hey Sis" at their first ever live show, yesterday afternoon at the Captured Tracks/Woodsist Festival in Brooklyn. Featuring Frankie Rose (Crystal Stilts, ex-Vivian Girls) on drums, Mike Sniper (Blank Dogs) on bass, and Brandon Welchez (Crocodiles) on guitar:
Tortoise - "Prepare Your Coffin"; Looking at the cover of the new Tortoise album Beacons of Ancestorship and then watching this video makes complete linear sense. On the album cover you have a series of lines that create shapes and in this video we are given a character who races around capturing photos of the shapes of our world. Perfect symmetry right there, and neatly fitting with the music here.
Grade: B+
As if arbitrarily ranking one’s favorite albums of the year isn’t an absurd enough task, we leave you for the weekend with our favorite songs of 2008. Check David’s list at the bottom of the post…
