Perhaps we’ll remember 2011 as the year we returned to "the song." Yes, I know, music is almost always based around songs, but those elusive mysteries with actual choruses, verses, bridges (remember those?) and emotions seemed kind of rare for awhile. Whether in the loose slacker forms of Kurt Vile, the Petty-meets-experimental vibe of The War On Drugs, Drake making the club sound like some hellish, inescapable monster, Cass McCombs turning even further into stark emotional honesty or PJ Harvey reminding us that she is incredible and singular, it seems like songcraft has finally beat back the slew of by-the-numbers bedroom recordings.

From what I understand, The Hills is one of the most popular cable television shows of all time. The show features a series of entitled cunts searching for meaning / relevancy / a fulfilling relationship / a fulfilling career, kinda like regular people in society. One of the characters in the fake / real show is called Whitney Port. I think she pursued a meaningful career in fashion by leaving Los Angeles and moving to ‘The City.’
N e ways, I think some website hired her to write some ’survival guide’ for coachella. I think these types of people will only do stuff for money. Like they will only ‘go 2 a club’ if some1 pays them. I think they only blog for money, too.

Jay-Z is a popular mainstream rapper who many alt sites give authentic credibility, but I’m not sure why. He enjoys to give interviews where he talks about listening to ‘far out, real ass shit’, including indie buzzbands like Grizzly Bear and the Dirty Projectors. The Dirty Projectors have a song called “Stillness is the Move”, and Jay-Z highjacked that abstract song title and used it to describe what makes Bono so awesome
Does this even make sense?
What’s up guys. This is Mike.. Go ahead and call me MikeBro in honor of Carles the #1 altbro of all time. haha. Go ahead, give me shit cause I’m not him, but give me a little bit of room to grow, too. Sure no one can match Carleses style, but I think if you guys keep coming back, you’ll start to open up to new ideas and words, and just give me a chance to shine. Maybe I need to make a new dotcom for this site, but thats something we can chat about later.. Right now, I have the keys to the badboy, so lets just buckle our seatbelts and take it for a wild ride….

I already did a fairly comprehensive rant about last year’s Brit Award nominations, and when I first saw the Brit nominations for this year, I just expelled a huge sigh and asked myself, why bother wasting my energy again over a year that clearly mirrors last year’s nominations and many of the preceding disappointing years? Then I had another think, and figured "because it could be funny."
2008 was a shit year for music.
With the economy falling down around us, the music industry continued to crumble under the pressure of the internet…falling down, down, down and barely even pulling in a cent (or so they would like you to believe). Bands inspired by the few cash cows we have left aped and copied their way through records. Folks were led to believe that a band like Fleet Foxes made a better, more lasting impression with their record then say someone like Deerhunter did.
