This week’s round up of the tracks I haven’t had the space to post…

MGMT recently released a ‘controversial album’ called Congratulations. Many fans were ‘let down’ because their new songs weren’t as catchy / poppy as their old songs. Instead, they carved out some sort of conceptual space that isn’t as approachable as Animal Collective.
At the Coachella Music and Arts Festival, MGMT opted not to play their first big song “Kids.” In many recent interviews, the MGMT Bros say that ‘Kids’ was one of the first songs they wrote, so they are looking to distance themselves from their early brand, and prove that they can write better songs.

Any band that is hand picked by a member of No Age to release an album on his label is gonna get more then its fare share of a look. Silk Flowers is just such a band. Signed to Dean Spurnt’s Post Present Medium label, the band recently came to my attention thanks to Spurnt’s pushing of the group. True he calls them "probably the weirdest band I know" and they definitely live up to that billing but there is something downright catchy about their music, even if you have to give it time to branch out and become comfortable in your ears.

We’re super excited to see Mika Miko and our friends The Coathangers who we’re playing with at Sneaky Dees! We always love dd/mm/yyyy! Also excited to see the Gza if we can get in. The lineup is crazy cool! Oh and The Creeping Nobodies…not sure if they are playing but they are amazing and we’ll totally go see them if they are playing.
