Jane’s Addiction fans have been waiting nearly eight years for a follow-up to 2003’s Strays. The LA rock band, helmed by singer Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins, have finally returned with a new disc, The Great Escape Artist, which comes out today (Oct. 18) via Capitol Records.
The Recession, 9/11, The Internet, Terrorism, George Bush, July 7th 2005, Big Brother, Reality Television, Social Networking, Celebrity, Tony Blair, Online Shopping, The First Black President, The Smoking Ban, I-Pods, Borat, Banksy, Chavs…
In no chronological or logical order, these are just some of the things that the decade dubbed “the noughties” may be remembered for.

Emanuel and the Fear is a joyful, 11-piece pop outfit spilling ink on all the right places—splashed across L Magazine, featured in the Voice, playing out sold out shows with David Byrne, TV on the Radio and Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson in attendance.
Back again for Day Two of the 2009 Camden Crawl. There are more folk about than yesterday, what with it being a Saturday and all, and it is gloriously sunny. So best to get inside quick….

Following the rather lackluster Coachella announcement last week, comes Bonnaroo’s initial lineup for 2009. At first glance, it’s quite the stellar lineup of bands, with the one glaring addition that jumped out at me being the Beastie Boys! The one time I attempted to see them live was back in 2000, when they were set to tour with Rage Against the Machine, but was canceled because Mike D broke his arm or something like that. Even now in 2009, they’re still up there (along with PJ Harvey) as a band I would still love to see.
Big Day Out
Featuring: Neil Young, Arctic Monkeys, TV On The Radio, Prodigy, Lupe Fiasco, Bang! Bang! Eche!, Pendulum, Mint Chicks, Brand New Math, Ting Tings and Black Kids

The biggest surprise of the day was Pendulum. While I didn’t get up close, I witnessed their extremely tight set from the stand. From my observations Pendulum drew the biggest crowd of the day (Arctic Monkeys and Prodigy may have claim to dispute this), with metal and break-core fans joining in unison to wave their hands in the air and mosh for a solid hour. The live component to their on-stage trickery was completely perplexing, sounding just like a solid studio take. It was clear the band work extremely hard to perfect the ultimate live experience and I doubt a single Pendulum fan left Big Day Out disappointed. TV On The Radio fans, however, may be a bit bitter, with Pendulum going slightly overtime and encroaching on TVOTR’s set.
The Top 5 Top Albums of 2008
Because it’s that time of year, when every publication suddenly decides it has listened to every record worth listening to and compiles them into a numerical list of cultural impact and importance, it seems appropriate to compile a top five list of top album lists of 2008. Let’s see how relevant, exciting and forward thinking they were. Yes. Fight fire with fire, I say.
The much hyped about Telepathe earlier this month released their latest single "Devils Trident", which definitely carries the club vibe from their Chrome’s On It EP, but with a more ruminative feel, instilled by the spoken word lyrics.
