Walls have just released this new track taken from their new album ‘Coracle’ out next week.

If we had to break down this song from Boston’s Bodega Girls into an equation it would be this: MC5 + Jackson 5 + LEN = "Primetime SexCrime." Also, we would advise against Googling this song title unless you want Chris Hansen hollering at your door or something. T.G.I.F. WE’RE OUT.

Wild Yaks sound like the breakage of many things–bottles, stages, wood, guitar strings, sax reeds, whatever. They are fantastically sprawling and totally wasted. Their new album, 10 Ships (Don’t Die Yet!) , just came out through Ernest Jenning and contains the below two jams and others like them.

Daniel Johnston is known mainly for two things: having Kurt Cobain as a famous fan, and having spent a good portion of his life dealing with schizophrenia. His immense catalog of songs — tender, honest, direct and weird, often all at once — somehow gets short shrift. Take “I Had Lost My Mind,” a brief, wildly catchy tune from Is and Always Was (due the first week of October).
For a supposed Blogger, I don’t really spend a lot of time exploring the Blogosphere these days. When I do, though, one of the sites I return to is
Bradley’s Almanac, a busy, streets ahead of the pack blog based on the Boston music scene.
I envy the selection of exciting gigs he seems to have ranged in front of him every weekend and the time he appears to have to go to them all. He updates regularly and also records gigs he goes to – all the things I’d hoped this Blog would become when I started it. Ho hum.

Andrew W. K. & The Calder Quartet at Coolidge Corner Theatre
($25, 9:00, all ages)
AWK playing piano. With a string quartet. There should only be one thing stopping you from going to this. That $25 ticket price. YIKES. But if you can swing it, it’d certainly be worth it.

British indie-pop group Hatcham Social have enjoyed some stellar company, sharing their drummer with a rising Klaxons, collaborating with The Horrors’ Faris Badwan, and signing in the States to TBD Records, home of White Rabbits and this band called Radiohead.
Once Upon A Time, there was A Band known as Volcano Suns...
DATELINE: BOSTON - The Bright Orange Years (1985) and All-Night Lotus Party (1986), the classic first releases from Boston's beloved Volcano Suns have gotten the reissue treatment from the good folks at Merge Records. The songs on both collections were lovingly remastered by engineer Bob Weston and have never sounded better. Now these two post-punk masterpieces will be available to fans on CD for the first time ever! Packed with original material and some added bonuses (including rare live recordings) this is a must have for the enthusiasts of "the Boston Sound." For a limited time, you can buy both records now at the same time for a special low price
