It’s not for the cock, it’s for a review of the decade

george-bush-eats-a-kitten

The Recession, 9/11, The Internet, Terrorism, George Bush, July 7th 2005, Big Brother, Reality Television, Social Networking, Celebrity, Tony Blair, Online Shopping, The First Black President, The Smoking Ban, I-Pods, Borat, Banksy, Chavs…

In no chronological or logical order, these are just some of the things that the decade dubbed “the noughties” may be remembered for.

Some ‘respected’ U.K. magazine makes list of ‘50 artists who are going 2 alter the future of music

Sometimes I read blogs that post ‘relevant stories’ that were generated by magazines. I am not sure if music magazines will still be alive in _ years, but I think that their last opportunities to ‘get people to visit their websites’ means making ‘huge lists’ where they list a bunch of blogworthy/noteworthy people, then get ‘the entire internet’ to react to it, as if their ‘editorial staff’ is a group of people who are ‘way more qualified’ than a ‘bro who started a blogspot.’

I think that ‘NME Magazine’ is something that exists in the United Kingdom. From what I understand, lots of artists try to ‘get buzz’ in the UK or something, then they try to ‘make it cool in the USA.’ Kinda like the Spice Girls.

It’s not for the cock, it’s for a beautiful mess and chaotic success

Glastonbury Festival 2009

After a Thursday night spent tragically missing East 17, wondering from field to field in the rain, catching great sets my Kap Bambino and Metronomy and having the news of the King of Pop’s ™ death gradually filtering through from “blatant festival rumour” status to a full on “Oh Shit!” reaction (through the haze, I somehow remember sitting at the Stone Circle at about 5am adamant that it is actually a fake death by MJ to escape the crippling debt, child molestation accusations and massive workload of the O2 residency…seriously, mull it over! Well, it sounded ok at the time….)….ANYWAY, after all that and much more besides, it’s time for the festival proper to kick off with the full music schedule.

The 2009 Brit Awards: I Know I Shouldn't Bother, But I Will Anyway

I already did a fairly comprehensive rant about last year’s Brit Award nominations, and when I first saw the Brit nominations for this year, I just expelled a huge sigh and asked myself, why bother wasting my energy again over a year that clearly mirrors last year’s nominations and many of the preceding disappointing years? Then I had another think, and figured "because it could be funny."
