Natasha Kahn MP3s

Bat For Lashes :: “Daniel”

bats-for-lashes

When we first heard Brighton’s Natasha Kahn of Bat For Lashes back in 2006, we were so taken with her unique vocals, which according to our original post came across as a mishmash of Björk, Tori Amos, and Blonde Redhead’s Kazu Makino…with a pinch of Chan Marshall thrown in for good measure.  Her debut Fur and Gold garnered many accolades, going even as far as making the shortlist for the 2007 Mercury Prize.

On April 6th, she’s set to release the follow-up Two Suns, which boasts guests that include Scott Walker and Yeasayer, and most notably, some kind of alter-ego called Pearl.  A persona described as “a destructive, self-absorbed, blonde, femme fatale of a persona who acts as a direct foil to Khan’s more mystical, desert-born spiritual self.”

Yeah, okay.  Well, I’m not sure where that other persona comes into play, but on another note, the new single “Daniel” is quite good!  Take a listen for yourself and let us know what you think.
