Ghost Hunter, Fan Death - sounds like a whole lotta killing’s gone on around here recently, albeit in anything but cold blood. There’s an erotic heat to this remix of "Reunited" that draws you in even as your gut’s screaming at you to just get the hell out of there. I guess now I know what it feels like to be one of those spiders that cums then dies.

This booming raindance exclusive (which premiered earlier this week via our new RCRD of The Day) comes courtesy of J-Wow of Buraka Som Sistema and transforms Fever Ray’s original occult appeal into a ghetto-tech electro ballad fit for for the stickiest of floors. Fever Ray, a.k.a. Karin Dreijer-Andersson of The Knife, just released her eponymous and worthy debut, marrying glossy, shivering vocals to gray-scaled moods and infectious plastic beats. Fever Ray is out on Mute now.
To be fair, this is more of an edit than a remix–the collapsing sounds of reversed hi-hats and kicks spread under the untainted zombie fog of the original. Appears on Bassnectar’s new LP, Cozza Frenzy, out October 27th.

I have been slowly warming up too Fever Ray despite the cold ritualistic vibe, which I at first tagged as phony and obsolete. But despite this false start, thanks to a number of remixers, I have been able to view Karin Dreijer Andersson's haunting songs in a new light and am learning to embrace attributes of the music that were at first lost upon me. One of these valiant remixers is no other than Dan Lissvik, aka one half of Studio, who has injected "When I Grow Up" with a bit of a tropical punch and some samples of kids in the background. The remix will be released along with seven others on Fever Ray's "When I Grow Up" single, due out later this month. [via]

I leave you for the weekend with this outstanding version of Fever Ray’s "When I Grow Up," reworked by Lissvik of Swedish balearic duo Studio.
OMG I LOVE THE KNIFE. Fever Ray is Karin Dreijer Andersson. Karin Dreijer Andersson is one half of The Knife. So by using the transitive property, I love Fever Ray. "If I Had A Heart" is undeniably made by Karin and definitely has a Knife feeling to it. But it’s more aligned with the darker side of Silent Shout. The slow burning "From Off To On" comes to mind as a solid comparison. "Heart" is creepy, embracing the often used vocal shifts that turn Karin into a 40 year old pervy dude. I love it. I’ve literally played this 10 times in a row for the past half hour. I can’t wait for the full length. It’s due out in March on Mute Records.
