You might not know the name
Lafayette Afro-Rock Band, but their sound probably rings a few bells. Although the forgotten funksters were in their prime between 1974-75 while living in France, the band achieved its widest renown as fodder for hip-hop producers. Their horns, guitars and keyboards (even from when they were called Ice) dot the records of Jay-Z, Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, Nas, De La Soul, and many more.
