les savy fav
Mon, 2007/10/22 - Scala, London
ARTROCKER RATING:
From the moment that the Les Savy Fav front man Tim Harrington strutted on the Scala stage dressed as an old Victorian gentleman, it had become quite obvious that sublety wasn’t one of his things… The band opened with an impassioned performance of ‘The Equestrian’, which was quickly followed by ‘Patty Lee’ - another stand out track from their latest album. Throughout the gig Les Savy Fav were unrelenting with their unique brand of punk-rock. The band is a tight unit, and in Harrington they posses a truly engrossing front man.
four songs into the set and Harrington had already climbed the walls and dry humped two members of the audience...
Overweight and balding, Harrington may not be not your traditional rock star, but he has a charisma that sets him apart from his contemporaries. It was impossible to take your eyes of the Les Savy Fav front man as he hurled himself around the stage. Barely four songs into the set and Harrington had already climbed the walls of the London Scala, and dry humped two members of the audience!
The set was largely made up of songs from their brilliant new album ‘Let’s Stay Friends’, but also had the occasional crowd favourite such as ‘Sweat Descends’from their earlier material. The performance was broken up by an impromptu marriage proposal from Les Savy Fav, which was greatly accepted by all members of the crowd. The band brought their set to an end with a barn-storming performance of ‘Raging In the Plague Age’.
Following a brief encore, which saw the Les Savy Fav front man mincing around the stage dressed as a woman, there was a stage invasion that left Harrington wearing little more than just his red boxer-shorts.
