rocket from THE crypt - THE name of THE band is rocket from THE crypt (reissue)

Released: Mon, 2007/10/29 on Castle
ARTROCKER RATING:
Pull on yer oversized bowling shirt, shine up those fake tattoos, tweak that quiff and swagger in rock’n’roll stylee like Da Hives. Rocket From The Crypt just gonna hit town and they gonna burn it up baby.
If yer looking fer thrills, fast cars, dangerous games with matches, sweaty punch-ups and a lot of rock’n’roll gangbang shoving down the front then this is the band for you.
San Diego hardcore merchant John ‘Speedo’ Reis, also of Drive Like Jehu, knocked up this amphetamine-fuelled carsmash of punk rock and soul horns in the early 90s and influenced a generation of Cali punkers with their aggressive drive, black humour and total commitment to the cause. The gang (gotta name ‘em: Speedo, ND, Petey X, Apollo 9, JC2000 and Atom) stepped forward from their hardcore influences to unify their love of chunking guitars and belting brass spewing out an enormous collection of recordings leading to a deal with Interscope as the world’s bright new hopes. This reissue is from the early years, combining a mini album ‘The State of Art is on Fire’ with two singles, from 93 and 03. If yer looking fer thrills, fast cars, dangerous games with matches, sweaty punch-ups and a lot of rock’n’roll gangbang shoving down the front then this is the band for you. Check out the burnin’ ecstasy of ‘Light Me’, ‘A+ In Arson Class’ and ‘Human Torch’ (you get the picture, Zippo?) and if you dig these, get ‘Circa:Now’ and ‘Scream, Dracula, Scream’.
