Bands that I did not listen to in 2k8

At the beginning of 2k8, I made a post about bands I did not listen to in 2k7. Now it is 2k9, and I will make a list of bands that I did not listen to in 2k8. It is important to understand that you are a consumer in a wide open marketplace. You allegedly have tons of options, with lots of music 2 listen 2. However, it is important 2 recognize that u usually ‘judge a band by itz name’ kinda like how u ‘judge books by their covers.’ If a book has a zany/boring/confusing cover, you will not buy it. The same theory applies to band names.

A band may or may not have to do more to be ‘worth your time’ than just have a zany/interesting/bloggable name. The names of bands are co-branded with U on your facebook/myspace profile. Their product + name = very important.

This is a rundown of bands I have not listened to in 2k8. ////////

King Khan & BBQ Show - heard it is some fat bro with his shirt off. Don’t know what they/he sounds like.
Bruce Springsteen - doesn’t he come out with an album 4 old people every year. Read he piggy backed off Obama to ‘sell more records.’
Guns N Roses - Gave away album with Dr. Pepper. ‘waited s00 long 4 it.’ -no1 I know. Do yall drink Diet Dr. Pepper or Dr. Pepper or Mr. Pibb?
Late of the Pier - don’t know what they sound like. Acoustic or electro?
TV on the Radio - wrote a post about these bros. nvr listened to them. ‘Am I a racist?’
Hercules and Love Affair - sometimes when a band is ‘too highly regarded’, I just kinda wait for 5 years to listen to the when no1 else does.
Bon Iver - is this a city/person/band? h8 band names like that.
Matt and Kim - Kinda weird when bands have ‘a big year’ but u don’t know n e 1 who listens to them.
Radiohead - Did "In Rainbows" come out this year or in 2k4/2k14?
Bloc Party - They advertised on HIPSTER RUNOFF. Thanks, yall. My readers bought a lot of yalls albums
Hot Chip - they had an album, but they had a video where the guy was the Joker, and then Heath died and they got cursed
M.I.A. -didn’t her hit song "I’m flying on Paper Planes, yall" come out in 2k6?
that new Deathcab album - do u surround urself with people who want 2 empathize with Deathcab? Do u feel like it’s because u don’t offer them enough emotionally?
Kate Bush - still trying 2 figure out difference between her and Kate Nash. I know 1 is electro and 1 is a piano cunt, I think.
Abe Vigoda - with a name that gimmicky, not gonna get my attention/time
Beirut - are they still ‘popular’/’authentic’?
Crystal Stilts - only have enough room for 1 Crystal in my life [via castles]
Beach House - only really heard 1 song, but I think I will always like their first album the most and never think about how ‘all of their songs kinda sound the same.’
David Byrne and Brian Eno - sound like old dudes
Esau Mwamwaya - sounds a lil bit too tribal/Afrikaan
Times New Viking - h8 the font TIMES NEW ROMAN so probs won’t like this band
Wale - I don’t take music seriously when they gimmick the music memesphere so well. (h8 this seinfeld meme s00 much. not fair 2 Jerry.)

Girl Talk - didn’t ever listen 2 more than 5 minutes of FEED THE ANIMALS (miss u 2k7)
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - If some1 recommended this album 2 me, I would probably think it was from the 1960s because the name of the band sounds old.
The Hold Steady - sounds like an emo-ish band from the early 00s with a crappie yelling singer.
Los Campesinos! - h8 bands with punctuation + mexi names
Flying Lotus - didn’t they have a raunchy viral vid?
Atlas Sound - the name is too metaphorical to approach
Gang Gang Dance - I think I listened to their early stuff, but just have trouble listening to stuff that’s ‘too post-AnCo’
Santogold - only watched that 1 zany video of hers, but h8 albums that were created to be a mix of ‘cool’/’authentic’/crafted to be written about in laggard alt magazines
Kanye West - I listened to his first album but wish he’d realize that he is ‘just a meme’ and not an artist
Fuck Buttons - buy or sell: bands with curse words in their name
The Walkmen - I think their new stuff is probably ‘better’ and ‘well-written’, but I am not complex enough to appreciate it more than their old albums about ‘being an outsider’
Vivian Girls - Saw 1 of their vids. Think they are meme-able bc of the way they look + you get to write about a revivalist sound
Air France - Kinda weird how this band is name like the band AIR from the country FRANCE. unoriginal, yall.
Erykah Badu - A lot of people liked this album, but I just remember her as a Zany, free spirited black woman who is largely responsible for making Andre 3000 the zany black man that he is today.
Lil Wayne - only heard the songs on the radio. Remember when Michael Phelps won a bunch of gold medals while listening to him? Remember when Michael Phelps turned into a brobag?

No Age- Think I wrote a post about how I didn’t ‘get’ them.
Portishead - I like to guess what a band will sound like based on their name, and the name ‘Portishead’ gives me a bad feeling.
Fleet Foxes - I always meant to get around to listening to them since they were always popular on hypemachine, but just sounded a little bit like something that shitty blogs blog about, and I don’t want to align my personal brand with entry level blogs who have ‘dreams of getting recruited by P4k’
Born Ruffians - sound kinda like they have a fat singer
Jamie Lidell - h8 when u don’t know if it is a man or a woman/if they are ‘pop’ or ‘deep’ or something weirdo-y like Lykke Li
Justice - nvr listend to them, only blggd abt them to appeal to entry levelers
Little Boots - saw her on the youtube using zany instruments, playing them live. Still haven’t really dug in deep. The next FEIST?

Ricardo Villalobos - Reminds me of the name JOSE GONZALEZ or whatever the hell his name is. Don’t know what 2 expect.
MGMT - didn’t their album come out in 2k4?
T.I.- hopefully his next album is ‘more conceptual’ so he can be as successful as Lil Wayne
The Mae Shi - not sure what 2 expect from a band name like this.

PLZ feel free to explain what these bands are all about/what I should listen 2/ what ’sux’/what type of people listen to particular bands.
I just want 2 stay relevant and ‘in touch’ with ‘what’s goin on’ in the musicsphere.
I want to be ‘more tolerant’ in terms of ‘taste’ in 2k9.
What bands did u not listen 2 in 2k8?
What bands will u not listen 2 in 2k9?
What bands should I listen 2 from 2k7/2k8 in the current year, 2k9?
How do you represent the year “2010″ in 2k__ format?

    Is your internet text

Is your internet text supposed to be funny or straight up obnoxious? I felt like I was reading a prepubescent girl's chat with her online boyfriend.
