Should Auld Acquaintance Be Forgot

Gallops

Gallops
Genre:
Other / Experimental
From: Wales, United Kingdom

Credit where credits due. The Devil has been a critic of the NME for, among other things, promoting the likes of the Ting Tings and Vampire Weekend whilst ignoring and neglecting more interesting, intriguing, exciting, innovative bands (see the Devil’s top 10 for some of those bands). Well maybe, just maybe, 2009 could be a return to form for the UK’s leading alternative music magazine.

NME.com have turned the Devil onto a great new Welsh band, Gallops
, who describe themselves as curators of Taff-math which is a far neater summary of their Foals-like toying with the Godspeed You Black Emporer! post rock template than their alternative description of Black Sabbath being sexually assaulted by Pacman and Steve Reich at an Aphex Twin show!

As 1st January is an appropriate time to let bygones be bygones the NME is once again on the Devil’s list of must reads for 2009.
