Snow Patrol?

One EskimO

One eskimO
Genre: Rock / Alternative / Pop
From: United Kingdom

One eskimO are a new UK band who come pre-loaded with an interesting back story.

Five years ago lead singer Kristian Leontiou was signed by Polydor as a male rapper but subsequently marketed as an easy listening male equivalent to Dido (major labels dontcha just love ‘em?). Despite a couple of hits and a gold record Leontiou was uncomfortable with life as Polydor’s puppet and set out to create a sound of his own and One EskimO was born.

While One eskimO’s blend of Snow Patrol sensitivity and Gorillaz style band as animated figures concept may not be original their delicate, downtempo balladry will strike a core with those who found Coldplay’s ‘Viva La Vida’ a little too challenging. The band’s debut single ‘Kandi’ (check out the award winning video below) is scheduled for release on 23rd February 2009 and features a sample from Candi Staton’s ‘71 hit ‘He Called Me Baby’

With their Raymond Briggs like animation and a biography straight out of Hans Christian Anderson One eskimO will appeal more to fans of Me to You than Emily the Strange and should find a place on the daytime radio playlists or maybe CBBC.
