Stark Palace - Saw What Your Momma Did

Stark Palace

The Stark Palace
Genre: Alternative / Indie / Blues From: Borders, United Kingdom

One of the Devil’s favourite tracks on the Cherryade Christmas album (find out more at Christmas On Planet Peel) is the wierd, wonderful oddity that is The Stark Palace’s ‘Saw What Your Momma Did’.

Sounding like a Beefheart and Zappa inspired take on ‘I Saw Momma Kissing Santa Claus’ it feels like it’s been implanted in my brain by a deranged maniacally surgeon. It’s already a late entry into the Devil’s top 10 of 2008 (which is becoming increasingly difficult to confine to just 10).

To paraphrase Victor Kiam I love it so much I made it my myspace profile song!

The guys behind Stark Palace, Roger Simian & Cameron Jack, also co-run the eclectically brilliant Shark Batter Records home to the frighteningly named and brilliantly ramshackle Vacuum Spasm Babies, the dark empiricism of The Stone Ghost Collective and the hauntingly trippy Kono Michi.

Stark Palace and A band and label to watch for 2009.
