ALFONZOS DEMO KITCHEN 6: A NEW HOPE!

Lovepixies of the hairly handed generation! It is true! I have awoken from the hospital beds of Northern Italy to return to my beloved kitchen, no thankyous to that African King Prawn that poisoned me! (believe me, I am eating many a prawn cocktail in revenge, and laughing as I pour on the thousand Island dressing) Anyway! It's an honour to be back and - Mamma Christiano! I have a mountain of demos to review. You proactive crazypeople! The pile is so big it's almost as thick as my new book "Lobster Fishing with Alfonzo Mozorrelli"! Out now in Waterstones! Yessss. Now let's dig in and have a boogie. WOOOOOO HOOOOOO!

.

WINTERIA is the name of a recently discovered deep sea fish that can be battered or fried! Or... ahem, preserved by Wildlife lovers everywhere. By coincidence, Wintera is also the name of a great new band that sound like a blend of the Arcade Fire and early Built to Spill- and a very refreshing demo they have made too!

When asked it's opinion on the band named after it, this Winteria Fish refused to comment

My good friends The Beat generation once said to me "Alfonzo? The first thought, is the best thought." I said, "What the hell are you saying about my crab sandwhiches you motherf*cking crazy poet hippies?!" Ahhh those were the days. Anyway, THE VICTORIANS share this Beatnik philosophy: their "first take best take" demo is full of pop magic ('Robots Die'), and Stooges Vs Pavement craziness! ('This Year I Won't Die').
RATING: OCTOPUS IN VINEGAR

Do you remember the day you kissed a girl for the first time? It was a wonderful, slobbery experience! And in that sense, a little bit like the LITTLE THINGS- a band that have single handedley invented Nu-Twee and got away with it. It is an infectious pop conundrum!

RUNNER say they are trying to take the Interpol / Editors sound and make it more uplifting. Well, Runners? You have failed, you morbid little crazypeople! However, when your song 'I Don't Know' climaxed 2 minutes and 51 seconds in, I had felt like I was communing with the Greek God of Adrenalin Glandulation, so you are forgiven, reviewed... and admired from afar.
RATING: LOBSTERCRESS SALAD

While I was in Italy, I got sent a little tape from a band in Venice who said they were inventing the next genre of music. That band was 3 SACCHETTI and I was so excited I put the tape on right away. Then the nurse came in and accused me of playing Devil Worship hymns! She sedated me for three days for the trouble, but hey! It was worth it to hear the grand madness of 'Il Piccolo Principe Ha Sparato Alla Volpe'.
