Monday's Leaky Faucet

Who: Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele
Title: The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele
Release Date: February 3rd
Label: Paw Tracks
Thoughts: With the year winding down I have been hard at work attempting to compile all my lists of year end goodies for you folks. Sadly, Dent May just might be ruining it all for everyone. His album, which doesn’t hit shelves till February of next year, has been abusing my music listening time lately making it all but impossible to compile some lists of anything else. Comprised of fantastic strumming of his truly magnificent uke and a voice that crosses somewhere between Zach Condon (of Beirut) and Jens Lekman, this whole freaking album would be on my top 5 if the year ended right now and this had already been release. Yeah, I’m that obsessed so get your asses on this now!
Listen: Dent May - "You Can’t Force A Dance Party"
Dent May - "26 Miles (Santa Catalina)"

Who: Cat Power
Title: Dark End of the Street
Release Date: December 9th
Label: Matador
Thoughts: Cat Power loves doing these cover albums mixing her favorites from classic rock to soul. And I have to be honest I love listening to her do these covers. Yes, I would rather be listening to a completely new and original Cat Power record, but in the in-between time I don’t mind hearing her take on Aretha Franklin or Creedance. This isn’t the best of her covers albums, but it definitely fills the time before we get a new record from her.
Listen: Cat Power - "Fortunate Son" (CCR Cover)
Cat Power - "It Ain’t Fair" (Aretha Franklin Cover)
