Hold Your Horse Is - You Show Up Digital Single Released 12th July

Last time I reviewed this lot, I was impressed by their "double b-side" EP. Listening to their digital single ‘You Show Up’, which is out FREE tomorrow (12th July), I’m even more so.

Coming in at 3 minutes 48 seconds, the single is a tad longer than I’d normally listen to without getting bored as of late. Short attention span created by the internet possibly. Miraculously though, there’s enough going on to render this track the perfect length in this situation.

There’s a maturity and sophistication in both the recording and the arrangement that instantly gives you the impression that these guys know what they’re doing. With huge, confident riffs akin to that of the fabled Rival Schools, and a surefire powerful rythm, the song drags you along in a whistlestop way that makes you feel like you’re part of a story. This trio seem to have all the melodic hooks and gusto of those in the alternative-mainstream, without falling into the same old traps that render the latter predictable and boring. It’s an impressive combination.

Their mammoth September UK tour takes them to 28 dates in 32 days.

Seriously?

If the guys survive this, they should be well on their way to being firmly rooted as one of the most interesting live bands around.

Before that though, there are some July dates to contend with..
