Guest top 10s: Does It Offend You Yeah?, Bonus Eventus and Let's Wrestle

DOES IT OFFEND YOUYEAH?

Dan from Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Bonus Eventus and Let’s Wrestle give us their picks of 2009 as we near completion of our Guest top 10s.

TING TINGS

Pure pop from two of the nicest people I’ve ever met in the music business, We toured with them in 2008 and watched them blow up and go on to world wide success, I’m really happy for them! Their touring schedule is crazy too, I’d be suprised if they get a holiday this side of the year 3000.

IGNUG (Myspace)

Just went to see this band last night. Normally I get sick of hearing electro but this band jumped out at me. They had about 10 million synths on a tiny stage and are just crying out for a producer to scoop them up and put out an EP which would probably sound something like Prince mixed with SebastiAn from Ed Banger records.

HOUSSE DE RACKET (Myspace)

Are a two piece French band who supported us on a quick tour we did of the UK. Imagine a cross between Phoenix and Daft Punk and you’ll get the picture. Plus they dress up all in white which looks great. In fact maybe I just love two pieces as I’ve constantly got The White Stripes and DFA1979 on rotation on my ipod

NIN

Apparently Trent Reznors putting NIN to bed now which is a shame because I only really started to listen to some of his music properly after we supported them in the US. Plus their live show is crazy, I never thought you could make a sequencer out of a video wall.

THE PRODIGY

They’re back and bigger than ever, my favourite electronic band of all time. When I first heard the new album I wasnt so sure whether I liked it or not, but it’s really grown on me recently. I was at a fireworks display just the other day and Warriors Dance came over the PA which caused instantaneous dancing by some OAP’s and Toddlers which was fucking funny!

LATE OF THE PIER

I just checked on my laptop which album has been played the most and "Fantasy Black Channel" came up. Can’t say much more than that other than I’m looking forward to the next album.

YEAH YEAH YEAHS

YYY’s + Synths = Amazing. I really love the new It’s Blitz record. I’ve always had a soft spot for Karen O’s vocals and would love to get the chance for DIOYY to work with them at some point.

DIZZEE RASCAL

I find it amazing that Dizzee can come out with a hook as cheesy as "Bonkers" and still keep me on side as well as the rest of the UK. But when I hear him rapping about the congestion charge and coming out with lines such as "Why don’t you just kick back, be jolly / Stay at home with a cup of tea, watch Corrie" whilst also sneaking in appearences Newsnight he come across as a great ambassador of music from the UK, especially when it turns out he’s a really nice guy as I found out when I was sat next to him 30,000 feet above Australia.

PLUGS

Got to sneak in a plug for Plugs, which is the band which Morgan, our old Guitarist is working on now full time. Check out their track "All Them Witches". Everyone in DIOYY wishes Morgz well with it!

BAND OF SKULLS (Myspace)

I think this band are going to be pretty huge, especially in America, as their take on Blues rock is pretty special. Plus they’re all great at rocking the leather jackets! I’ve just heard they’re going to be on the soundtrack for Twilight: New Moon, so they’ll be the new poster band for self harmers the world over.

Bonus Eventus’ (Myspace) Top Picks:

Julian Casablancas - Phrazes For The Young

Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix

White Rabbits - It’s Frightening!

Rx Bandits - Mandala

Black Lips - 200 Million Thousand

It’s tough to pick one absolute favorite, but if we had to we would probably lean towards Phoenix. The entire record is great pop from the first to last song, and the fact that ‘1901’ and ‘Lisztomania’ were staples on every single party playlist of ours over the summer really solidifies it as one of the best in our minds.

Let’s Wrestle’s (MyspacePicks:

Popular Songs- Yo La Tengo
