What can you say about guys who have been around for 38 years and have a following of both parents and children, as passions and the love of rock music gets passed down from generation to generation?
The classics came up from the start with David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain opening with ‘Looking for a Kiss’. Though only the above two remain of the original line up, The Dolls’ newer members still have the energy and glamour of the their predecessors.
I can still remember seeing photos of Johansen and his infamous smile which has been etched in my memory. To actually see him live makes you understand how influential the Dolls have been for so many acts.
The set continued with familiar songs - ‘Pills’, ‘Subway Train’, ‘Trash’ (with a bit of reggae thrown in for good measure) and ‘Jet Boy’.
The encore finished with ‘Personality Crisis’ (how else?) to set it in stone that these guys definitely know how to rock!
Don’t forget to check New York Dolls’ photos here!
