THE FUTUREHEADS GET ON THEIR BIKES

Like parts of France, and, more historically, parts of the Netherlands, why don’t the British Government adopt a bike-hire policy, especially in cities of heavier congestion, such as London and Manchester? Netherlands, historically a place with a large anarchist and punk-rock political contingent, has long subscribed to the people-friendly initiative of ‘bike-lending’, where city or state-owned bicycles are locked up at certain points in the city, readily available for people to use as and when they need them.
The French have taken this slightly further toward bureaucracy, by implementing a ‘charge-card’ philosophy to proceedings - yet in all fairness this has worked tremendously well, as it has taken even the slightest elements of crime and neglect out of the conundrum. It is a perfect, forward-thinking idea for the busier cities, where cars with one passenger seem to eternally block off major inner-city roads. It means you don’t have to find space in your tiny one-room flat for a big old lump of steel, everything becomes much easier to get to, and after all… riding a bike is punk as fuck.

    They already tried it..

Not sure where (I think it was london), but apparently all the bikes were stolen within the first day. FAIL.
