Another band with ‘horse’ in the title, the trio come from Surrey, and hope to one day organise a tour with other equine-related bands. Can I suggest Rapider Than Horsepower for the bill?
Speaky ‘Art Brut’-esque bits. Rough, sloppy arrogance in the vein of ‘Shooting At Unarmed Men’. Dark, quick-paced riffs that would sound at home with ‘yourcodenameis:milo’and the edge that Biffy Clyro had back before they became everyone’s favourite band – and you have Hold Your Horse Is.
It’s pretty good, if you couldn’t tell. I’m not a big fan of the over-accented vocals at points, as it comes across as a bit wanky, but at least it’s something a bit different from the usual guff that we get rolled out in the alt music scene. The more I listen, the more I hear strands of all the bands I like tied up and then unravelled really quickly, and it’s enough to make me wish there was more.
A nice lo-fi recording with lots of punch – due out as a DIY release on the 21st of September – which sadly appears only to be via iTunes, which I personally have a hatred of. Make sure any future releases are on nice shiny hard-copy please?
