Young Knives let fans vote on set list

The Young Knives are playing at Heaven on 24 September as part of Transgressive Record’s 5th birthday celebrations. You should go - because they are amazing.

To spice things up, they’re letting you the screaming fan vote on what songs they’re going to play. Good eh? Will the masochists gang up and make the band play all those b-sides they know they hate? Or will democracy redeem itself and produce the best Young Knives set of all time?

Read on for more information, and to find out whether House of Lords plans to honour, rig or simply ignore the vote.

We used the Internet to ask bass playing behemoth House of Lords whether the band could ensure voting would be fair and corruption free:

"Well there’s nothing to stop us from voting for songs ourselves if we don’t like what everyone else votes for. My opinion is just as valid as everyone elses, even if i don’t pay to get in."

So I think we can safely assume that every single vote counts, even those cast by the band themselves. So far so good.

"We will be playing some new tracks also and the audience definitely don’t get the oportunity to un-vote those from the setlist so it’s not completely democratic. But then history has proven that complete democracy will never work, it’s always going to end up like ‘lord of the flies’ with the fat kid getting stoned to death by the popular kids."

So that’s a guarantee of quality. Not only will the band probably play the songs you vote for, they’ll add some unexpected new treats and veto democracy if it fails them. Brilliant.
