Profile - The Kabeedies

Welcome to the fruity and feisty world of The Kabeedies. Like all good teenage bands, their lo-fi indie pop sparkles with mischief, chaos... and so much energy you could stick a straw in them and drink pure Lucazade.

Artrocker has already described them as "a kind of female Good Shoes", but with no fixed singer and a penchant for yelping like wild dogs, there's clearly something going in in their heads that the rest of us should know about...

Signing up to Cherryade Records after the label boss Rachel played them on her internet radio station, the group developed a reputation for inspiring audiences to lose their inhibitions. How did they do it? The answer is simple.

"Katie dances like an embarrassed drunk on stage," explains bassist Rory, "so that makes the audience think - hmm! If she can do it, I can do it!"

Katie? That'll be the singer then. But hang on - Rory sings too. And so does Evan... and Fab too! Is this some kind of plot to confuse music journalists? "It's not a typical female fronted band," agrees Rory, "we are always switching things around. "

Where as most bands practice their New Wave eyeliner in the mirror, The Kabeedies are taking a different route altogether: "We're more into old school rock 'n roll, but the main thing is we don't take ourselves too seriously. It's a complete laugh."

And laugh they do, in the faces of every band that is digging up the bones of the 1980s and gnawing at them like a pack of hungry dogs. Catch them on tour, NOW!
