Deathline are everyone’s favourite Noir Rock two piece. They’ve been pumping out their own brand of awesome ‘dark rock’ long before faddish commentators came up with the tag.
At our invitation, Kaoru Deathline has kindly put together this excellent mp3 mix. In his own words:
"These are some songs that Deathline have listened to recently. They are a combination of the two things that Deathline like. Darkness, and repetitiveness."

If these tunes tickle your fancy, then you should definitely check out Deathline’s brilliant debut album SixtyNine. Let’s try and describe the Deathline sound - bear with me here. Imagine a generic gothic castle, on a jagged hill. It’s the kind of castle you see in old Dracula movies. Lightning is flashing in the night sky, it’s raining. The Raveonettes and The Jesus and Mary Chain are touring together. They’re on their way to a gig at Transylvannia’s foremost nightclub, but their van breaks down. Somewhat apprehensively, they wind their way up the castle drive and knock on the door. It’s opened by a malprogrammed robot with the brain of Suicide’s Alan Vega wired into it. He kidnaps them and locks them in a dungeon full of musical equipment, knackered fuzz boxes and crates of champagne. Part of the wall slides away, revealing sound proof glass and The Vegatron at the controls of a mixing desk. "Drink all of the champagne and record me an album or I will kill you" he buzzes, in a Stephen Hawkings kind of voice.
SixtyNine sounds like that album. For all I know, that actually happened.

Kaoru also gave us this bit of Deathline news, based more firmly in reality:
"We’re taking a break from playing live to record our second. Will be announcing new dates from Sept onwards, though we are playing a gig in August with our friends Suicide Party (who feature on our mixtape and are the South of England’s and almost certainly Britain’s foremost Death Surf band) in Southampton on Aug 22. That will be very good."
Artrocker: Your website currently says you’re either too lazy or too rubbish to keep it updated – I doubt it can be the latter, so what have you been up to these last few months?

Southampton
With regret, we've had to pull out of the Southampton gig this Saturday for personal reasons. We're sorry about this but you must still go along and watch the amazing Suicide Party who we will be playing with in November at The Good Ship in Kilburn.
More dates to be announced soon, but till late Sept we're on a break from playing live while we craft some new material.
