agaskodo teliverek

ARTROCKER RATING:
Behind an indistinct door, amidst a rash of Kebab shops, and in a damp basement on Stoke Newington Road… I find Agaskodo Teliverek. The boys in this band (Miklos Kemecsi, Tomi Szabo and Pharaoh S. Russell) are dressed heroically in dangerously short shorts, tight red T–Shirts and long white socks. Sandwiched between them is the beautiful, psychotropic Japanese singer Hiroe Takei. The long red falsies that are glued to her eyelids spurt out like blood.
the audience are paralysed by the audiovisual bombardment in front of them...
They give us a sophisticated performance that’s simultaneously funny, absurd, beautiful and musically brilliant. The two lead guitars make fast melody’s that harmonise and contort, while Pharaoh’s rhythms chop and change, keeping me literally up on my toes. As Hiroe shifts schizophrenically from serene Geisha to screaming banshee, the Indie kids don’t know what to do with themselves. They want to dance to the music, but they’re also paralysed by the audiovisual bombardment in front of them. Agaskodo Teliverek are so far removed from modern cliché’s that it’s as if they spike you with a special Hungarian Acid. Tomi is wan and pallid, with legs so thin they might snap. His T-Shirt reads ‘Property Of Pete Greenwood’, while Miklos’ sports the slogan ‘Soft To The Touch’. I think that his brain must still be growing, conjuring up new musical dimensions and pushing up his forehead while simultaneously leaving his face behind! The pair chuck about their bones while their fingers dance on the strings of their guitars. I hear a man standing behind me say “I wish I had a video camera… I just won’t be able to describe this!” Well I’ve done my best to, but Agaskado Teliverek is one band that you really must experience for yourselves.
