We’re smoother, more considered, maybe, perhaps, occasionally a little too smooth and considered, pulling back from the edge and sometimes actively avoiding it. That’s not very rock’n’roll is it children? Maybe not, but Operator Please aren’t about stupid behaviour, they will take certain risks, having a violin in your band is taking a risk, just ask Curved Air. So we’ve lost some jagged edges, but what we’ve gained is great songs, superbly played by a bunch of young people high on their game. Polished professionality in those so young makes me blush at my own half-baked approach to everything. I need to get my act together, head to the dry cleaners and stop fucking about.
