NIC NELL
I've chosen to discuss Nic Nell, firstly because when we were drunk the other night he told me that I hadn't given him enough exposure! So this is kind of a guilt thing - but I'm doing it also because I've worked out how to express what I feel about his music.
Nic is the only person in the world who's gig you can go to, and to begin with really dislike both the music and him. But by the end think "that's the best thing I've ever seen or heard." He can turn you round more than anyone I've ever seen.
His live show is quite camp. He fuses Justin Timberlake dancing with rave dancing and mime. It's unlike anything. He writes these bizarre songs and dances like an idiot - but all in a really charming way. People will either love it or hate it - but that's ok. It's good to provoke extreme opinions.
