Miss Pain + Inner City Pirates + Lesser Panda

Buffalo Bar, Highbury Corner -

> MISS PAIN (Brighton)
Brighton trio are an essential lesson in the rock'n'roll treatment of
blending synths and guitars. Using the most abrasive of settings on their
drum machine and dipping into influences like The Flying Lizards, The
Cramps, Devo, The Make*Up + Add N to (X) + Joe Meek + Stereo Total, 60's
Girl Groups, Soft Cell, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Sonics you can tell you're in
for a rocking time. Numerous single releases under their belts including
'Girl Monster' on 'Chicks on Speed' label they released a 6 track EP just
before Christmas called 'Clarion Call' on Nylon Friction Records. Matching
that punk/pop/dancefloor aesthetic balance of neighbours Shrag, the
'boy/girl revolution' could restart here!

> INNER CITY PIRATES (Wales)
Already Zane Lowe favourites, indie-dance Pirates share a single release
this month with Lesser Panda. OEar Sex¹ ,from the single, rocks with a 'fuck
you' take on pop - a more garage-rock/pop take on New York's punk-funk
grooves, spilling over with jingles, jangles, dance beats, synth growls and
stomping stamping riffs whilst ODiscussion¹, is their more laid back effort,
recalling The Sundays or The Concretes.

> LESSER PANDA (London)
A menacingly beautiful artrock sound made by Mariano Robles (Vox), Chris
Howarth (Guitars/Drums/Synths), Ben Chatwin (Guitars/Synths), George McLeod (Drums/Synths) and Chris Fenner (Bass/Vox) has been refined in Hot Chip's Brick Lane studio and already championed by XFM's John Kennedy, and DFA mixmaster Tim Sweeney. Think Bauhaus, Bunnymen or Interpol - not much chance of them 'lightening up' then.
