Deerhunter Latest News

Spiritualized are performing Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space in May at Butlins, as part of the Matt Groening curated ATP weekend.  It’s a reprise of the production that saw them sell out 4 nights at the Barbican. Also featured in the new line up announcement are The Fresh and Onlys and Cold Cave. Full press release after the break. Spiritualized...
Atlas Sound/Cargo/15.11.09 It used to be well known that the success of a show involving Bradford Cox depended entirely on the musician’s fragile mood. However from the word go  tonight seems to almost pinpoint the moment he fully transitions from tortured artist to wholesome entertainer. The show opens with ‘Quick Canal’ his beautifully ambient duet with Stereolab...
Damn near the last minute I was given a chance to attend this year’s ATP NY (I’ll be covering it for Gothamist all weekend) and I have to say I don’t think I’ve been this excited about a musical weekend in ages! With bands like The Flaming Lips, Deerhunter, and Animal Collective all on tap and crazy concoctions like Bob Mould with No Age (performing as Hüsker D...
As yall know from the popular website calendar.blogspot.com, the year 2k9 only has 2 months left. The annual music cycle is ‘officially over’ and will be dormant until the first major indie album release in 2k10. This means ‘we’ as an altosphere need 2 do our best to reflect on the year that we just lived, and try 2 analyze which album/artist/mp3 we want to be the...
What’s up guys. This is Mike.. Go ahead and call me MikeBro in honor of Carles the #1 altbro of all time. haha. Go ahead, give me shit cause I’m not him, but give me a little bit of room to grow, too. Sure no one can match Carleses style, but I think if you guys keep coming back, you’ll start to open up to new ideas and words, and just give me a chance to shine. Maybe I...

Deerhunter MP3s

This track is all over the place by now, but such a match made in heaven cant be ignored. Bradford Cox (Deerhunter & Atlas Sound) and Noah Lennox (Panda Bear from Animal Collective) have teamed up to produce one of the most gorgeous, bouncy dream-pop tracks of the past few years. I really hope the rest of the upcoming Atlas Sound LP is as good as this. Kinda reminds me of good times....
As you may have noticed, along with the lack of posts going on around here, the Graboid has seemingly disappeared as well the past couple of weeks. To catch everyone back up to speed, I’ve decided to post the album releases from the past few weeks that we’ve missed along with everything from this week. I’m sure I may have missed some releases, but I think I’ve covered...
Lockett Pundt, multi-instrumenatlist and songwriter for Deerhunter, has his debut solo album, The Floodlight Collective, coming out in March via Kranky. The album is a beautiful collection of sonic shoe-gaze pop, in which, each track adds to the murky waters of sound by which a Deerhunter cohorts seem permeated. This album has not escaped, and will continue, to draw comparisons with Bradford Cox...
[MP3] Atlas Sound Walkabout (w/ Panda Bear) I heard that this song is possibly one of the most ‘relevant’ and ‘organically created + released’ mp3s of the year. From what I understand, the DeerhunterBro was ‘chilling’ with the Animal Collective, then Panda Bear (Noah Lenbro) ‘taught’ DeerBro how to use his lil conceptual music making gadget...
